What makes IB Chemistry different?

La asignatura de Química del Bachillerato Internacional va mucho más allá de memorizar fórmulas o resolver ejercicios. El programa está diseñado para que los estudiantes comprendan los principios que explican cómo funciona la materia y sean capaces de aplicarlos a situaciones nuevas, analizando datos, interpretando resultados y resolviendo problemas de forma crítica.

Tanto en Nivel Medio (SL) como en Nivel Superior (HL), el éxito depende de construir una base sólida de conceptos y practicar con el tipo de preguntas que aparecen en los exámenes oficiales. Por eso, en mis clases trabajamos la comprensión de la asignatura desde el primer día, reforzando aquellos temas que más cuestan y preparando al alumno para afrontar el examen con seguridad.
La asignatura se evalúa en función de la nota de:

  • Paper 1: Paper 1A (multiple-choice questions) and Paper 1B (data-based questions). It accounts for 36% of the final grade.
  • Paper 2: Short- and long-answer questions. It accounts for 44% of the final grade.
  • Internal Assessment (IA): A 3,000-word investigation in which the scientific method is applied. It accounts for 20% of the final grade.

* NOTE: It is important to remember that International Baccalaureate grades are awarded on a scale of up to 7 points.
